This is how I used to blog about five years ago:
- Open editor
- Type
- Post
- Check stats next time I decide to post
This is how I blog now:
- Open notebook, compile ideas
- Some ideas make it to a draft
- Some drafts become complete posts
- Each post gets 2-3 rounds of re-writing, cutting, and proof-reading
- Add images
- Add external links
- Add categories, tags, related posts
- Schedule post
- Promote post on Indiblogger
- Visit other blogs to comment!
- Reply to comments and/or alerts on WordPress app
- Rinse, repeat
Check stats:
And oh, don’t forget the theme of the day which was:
- Parenting on Mondays
- Feminism on Tuesdays
- Book Reviews on Wednesdays
- Miscellany on Thursdays
- TGIF on Fridays
Now that my work is taking so much more time and mental bandwidth than it used to, it’s hard to keep up the routine I described above. In fact, when I look back at it, I can’t believe I did all that – while working, commuting, raising a kid, running a home, and having a social life – for as long as I did.
I stayed away for a few weeks and lost all my readers. Sigh! The internetz is so fickle…
